Granite Belt at Christmas

Christmas in the Granite Belt is a magical time. We benefit from a cooler summer and lower humidity, so it’s a great weekend escape from Brisbane or the Gold Coast.

Let’s take a look at some of the activities in the area during the holiday season.

Granite Belt Christmas Farm

Probably the most famous Christmas activity in the Granite Belt is the Granite Belt Christmas Farm. The shop is a short ten minutes’ drive from Stanthorpe and is open year-round.

You can get into the Christmas spirit throughout the year by shopping for decorations or enjoying some festive food at the café.

Festivities do ramp up during December. From the end of November to late December, you can harvest your own Christmas tree or visit Santa in his grotto (weekends only).

Downs Explorer heritage steam train

Throughout the year, the Downs Explorer operates steam train tours all around the Granite Belt. Towards Christmas, there are special trips with Santa onboard. It’s a wonderful day out for families.

Check out the latest stream train tours on the Downs Explorer website.

Stanthorpe Christmas markets

Market in the Mountains is a regular market held on the second Sunday of each month. And the Stanthorpe Showgrounds market is held on the fourth Sunday of each month.

For December, both markets team up to have a bumper Christmas market! Visit the Stanthorpe Showgrounds website for more details.
