The Stanthorpe Apple & Grape Harvest Festival is an event held every two years that celebrates community, delicious produce, and local wine.
It’s a 10-day event, starting towards the end of February into March (which usually coincides with harvest-time across the region).
The history
The Stanthorpe Apple & Grape Harvest Festival was first held in 1966. Stanthorpe previously held the Apple Blossom Festival, but in the 60’s the name changed to incorporate other produce than just apples.
Since then, the Festival has grown spectacularly. In 2009, Queenslanders voted the Festival one of Queensland’s most iconic events as part of the Q150 Icons list.
The festival today
Today’s program features a 10-day jam-packed schedule attended by 70,000 people. There’s street parties and carnivals, busking competitions, open gardens, fun runs, markets, grape crushing, fireworks, and of course, the grand parade!
The final weekend hosts the main events like the parade, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t visit the Festival earlier in the week!
Stanthorpe and the surrounding areas will be buzzing with activity during the Festival, so make the most of your trip! Check out other highlights that the Granite Belt has to offer with our things to do in Stanthorpe blog.
